About temp-host
Temporary by default โ files expire because nothing online should live forever by accident.
temp-host.com is a small, deliberately minimal file-sharing service. Drop a file in, get a link, share it. Twenty-four hours later (or whatever you chose) the file is gone. No account, no email confirmation, no analytics watching you, no ads paying for it. It exists because the maintainer needed it and figured other people probably did too.
Philosophy
The web has a memory problem. Files uploaded to a "free" service become permanent โ indexed, archived, scraped, mined, and used to train models the uploader never agreed to. The defaults punish people who just need to send a screenshot to a friend.
temp-host inverts the defaults. Expiry is the rule, not an option you have to remember to set. The maximum retention is 30 days. If you want forever, use a service designed for forever โ there are many. If you want a quick handoff that vanishes, this is the place.
Temporary by default
Every upload has an expiry. Maximum 30 days. No "save forever" option, on purpose.
No tracking
No cookies, no analytics, no third-party scripts. Your IP isn't logged in our database.
No accounts
Nothing to sign up for. Nothing for us to leak. No password to forget.
No friction
Open the page, drop a file, copy the link. The whole flow fits on one screen.
How it's run
temp-host runs on a private VPS โ a small slice of a Dell R610 sitting in a colocation rack. Files are stored on the same machine that serves them. There is no S3, no Cloudflare R2, no third-party storage. When a file expires, a cron-like cleanup pass deletes both the file and the metadata in one operation.
- Operator Eric (0data Network)
- Hosting self-hosted, single VPS, US East
- Backend PHP, flat-file JSON metadata
- Frontend static HTML/CSS/JS โ no framework
- Storage local disk, never replicated
- Funding out of pocket, free for everyone
- Ads none. ever.
It's part of the 0data Network โ a small constellation of sites that share a "collect nothing, store little, expire fast" philosophy. Sister sites include h4ck0r.com (security tools), t0k3n.net, and CrypTok (the social-platform big sibling).
Contact
Email is the only contact channel. Reassemble the address by replacing [at] with
@ and [dot] with . โ sorry for the dance, it cuts the spam by
an order of magnitude. Replies usually come within a couple of days; abuse and DMCA are prioritized.
Optional support
temp-host is free and will stay free. If you'd like to chip in for the bandwidth and disk, a small Bitcoin tip is appreciated but never expected.
(Tip address will be posted here once published. No tip is needed to use the service. Don't tip unless you have actual spare sats.)
What temp-host is not
- Not a backup. Files vanish. That's the whole point.
- Not a CDN. Don't hotlink temp-host URLs into your blog or app.
- Not a contract. No SLA, no guarantees, no support tier. See the terms.
- Not encrypted server-side. Files sit on disk in the clear. If your content is sensitive, encrypt it before upload.
- Not anonymous. Webserver access logs exist for 14 days. See the privacy policy for the full story.
